Join experienced trumpeter Paul Archibald for an inspiring and supportive course exploring the art of trumpet playing. Whether you are looking to develop your technique, refine your performance skills or discover new repertoire, this course offers an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the instrument and grow in confidence as a performer. Working with repertoire chosen by participants, Paul will offer individual guidance on technique, interpretation, musical expression and performance, helping each player explore fresh approaches to their music. Participants will also come together to rehearse and play a piece as a trumpet group, putting their ensemble skills into practice.

No audition is required, and participants are encouraged to bring music that reflects their own interests, experience and aspirations. What to expect

Sessions will take the form of informal masterclasses, with participants receiving personalised feedback and practical guidance from Paul. Areas of focus may include breathing, tone production, articulation, phrasing, technical development, interpretation and performance preparation. Listening to fellow participants will offer fresh insights into different repertoire and approaches to playing. Alongside individual work, the group will rehearse a piece together, exploring ensemble listening, balance, blend and musical communication. Throughout the course, the emphasis will be on enjoying music-making while developing technical freedom, musical understanding and confidence.
