The Complete Saxophone Course

Directed by Huw Wiggin

About the course

Explore the versatility of the saxophone in a friendly and inspiring course with Huw Wiggin. From classical music to jazz, contemporary pieces and lighter styles, participants will discover new repertoire and develop their musical voice. Combining group playing, workshops, masterclasses and individual coaching, the course offers opportunities to improve technique, musicality and confidence while enjoying music-making with fellow saxophonists.

Who is it for?

Suitable for saxophonists playing at approximately Grade 5 standard or above, who are comfortable reading music and have some experience of ensemble playing. Formal examinations are not necessary: enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to try new things are more important.

What to expect

Sessions will include ensemble rehearsals, technique exercises, sight-reading, repertoire exploration and informal masterclass-style feedback. Huw will coach players individually and as a group, developing technical fluency, expression and listening skills. Repertoire will be selected to suit participants and may include songs by Gershwin and Cole Porter and arrangements of works by Bizet, Dukas and Bach.
