Who is it for?
This Open Level course welcomes double bass players of all abilities, from those building their foundations to experienced musicians looking for new perspectives. Participants are encouraged to bring music they enjoy playing, as well as any technical difficulties or performance questions they would like to explore. The atmosphere will be supportive, encouraging and responsive to each player’s interests.
What to expect
Sessions will offer personalised feedback on technique, tone, intonation, bowing, articulation and phrasing, alongside approaches to practice and musical interpretation. Participants can work on chosen pieces, studies or orchestral passages, with opportunities to discuss particular challenges and learn from one another. The emphasis is on practical progress, expressive playing and developing greater ease and confidence with the instrument.
