Piano with Florian Mitrea
Directed by Florian Mitrea
About the course
Join pianist Florian Mitrea for a welcoming and inspiring course celebrating the joy of playing the piano and discovering new ways to develop as a musician. Open to pianists of all abilities, the course offers individual tuition in a relaxed, supportive atmosphere, with opportunities to explore everything from technique and interpretation to practice methods and performance confidence.
This year, Florian will be teaching across three sessions each day, offering even more opportunities to work with him, observe lessons and share musical ideas. All repertoire is welcome, from Baroque to contemporary music, and each participant can shape their individual tuition around their own interests and ambitions. Above all, this is a course about enjoying music, learning from one another and sharing a lifelong love of the piano.
Who is it for?
For pianists of all levels, from beginners and enthusiastic amateurs to advanced players. Whether you are returning to the piano after a break, developing your technique or preparing for a performance, you will be equally welcome. No particular standard or repertoire is required – just curiosity, enthusiasm and a willingness to explore music together.
What to expect
Most sessions will focus on individual tuition, with all lessons open for others to observe. Participants are encouraged to listen, ask questions and contribute to discussions, learning from the wide range of music and approaches explored throughout the week.
You can use your individual time in whatever way is most helpful: working through a complete piece, exploring a difficult passage, discussing fingering or practice techniques, or even starting something entirely new. Those wishing to perform are warmly encouraged to do so, with opportunities to explore interpretation and managing performance nerves.
Depending on time and participants’ interests, there may also be group discussions on warming up, effective practice and other aspects of piano playing. The week will conclude with an informal course sharing, offering participants the opportunity to share some of the music they have explored. Throughout, the emphasis will be on encouragement, discovery and the pleasure of making music.
