Laurence Rose

Laurence Rose joined the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in 1983 and before retiring in 2022 worked in roles as diverse as threatened species recovery, reserve management, international capacity building, advocating global treaties, strategic planning, marketing and senior management.  He is also a writer, composer and artistic collaborator. His main interest is in exploring a cultural dimension to conservation, and composing lyrical prose narratives that both guide and challenge the reader. All his writing originates from direct personal experience and mindful observation.

Recent books include The Long Spring(published in 2018), Framing Nature – conservation and culture (2020) and Leopard Moon Rising – distant views of India (2021).

Originally from Kent, he has lived in rural West Yorkshire since 1999.
